Our First Pitching Experience: Building a Healthcare Startup in the Philippines

Healthcare Startup in the Philippines

Joining our first pitching competition felt like stepping into a different world.

I’m used to working on tech projects for local governments—fixing networks, training staff, and building systems. But this time, I stood with my former students, now my co-founders, ready to present our healthcare startup in the Philippines. We were in Pampanga, facing a room full of innovators, founders, and investors.

The Invitation

DEVCON Pampanga invited us to join the event organized by DCI Pampanga. The moment we accepted, the adrenaline started pumping. This was more than showing an idea. We had to prove it could change lives.

Reaching the Underserved

Our app, Ginhawa, aims to connect GIDA (Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas) and underserved communities to reliable healthcare. These places often lack doctors, clinics, or even basic consultations. We designed the platform for everyone, but it holds the greatest value for those farthest from hospitals.

The Energy of the Room

The pitching floor buzzed with ideas. Startups spoke about AI, sustainability, and community solutions. Although we competed, the atmosphere felt collaborative. Every founder wanted to create real impact.

Feedback That Changed Our Vision

One comment stood out: “Integrate blockchain and AI to make your platform more powerful.” Blockchain could secure medical records and prevent tampering. AI could assist with triage, symptom checking, and predictive health analytics. Those suggestions opened a new path for Ginhawa’s growth.

More Than Just a Pitch

We left with feedback, new contacts, and a stronger drive. The experience confirmed that Ginhawa is worth pushing forward.

Building a healthcare startup in the Philippines isn’t just about tech. It’s about hope, access, and making sure no one is left behind.
