And it was a key move in strengthening our local government digital strategy.
Want to know one of the most overlooked parts of any digital transformation project? The physical layer—the actual network infrastructure that makes everything possible.
That’s exactly what we explored during our recent benchmarking visit to one of our partner institutions. And it was a key move in strengthening our local government digital strategy.
The Process: Observing, Asking, and Learning on the Ground
I brought my technical team with me to their main office—not just to take notes, but to understand how their network was designed, built, and maintained. From cabling management to server room layout, from firewall configurations to redundancy protocols—we studied it all.
We asked questions, reviewed their network flow, and compared how their system handled internal operations, user access, internet bandwidth, and security. It wasn’t just about seeing cool setups—it was about identifying what we could bring home and replicate for our own infrastructure.
More importantly, this wasn’t a one-way visit. It was a conversation. Their team openly shared best practices, pain points, and design decisions that helped shape what worked (and what didn’t) in their environment.
The Result: Ideas We Can Build On
We returned with more than just photos and sketches—we came back with a clearer picture of what’s possible.
This benchmarking exercise fed directly into our ongoing system analysis and design efforts. We now have a stronger reference point as we improve our network backbone at the city government. Not just for today’s needs, but for scaling tomorrow’s digital services.
This is how local government digital strategy works at its best—when we look beyond forms and software, and pay attention to the foundations that support it all.
Next Steps: Build Smart, Build Informed
If your LGU is investing in digital infrastructure, don’t skip the groundwork. Learn from those ahead. Visit their sites. Ask the right questions. That’s how strategy turns into execution.
